Yul Be A Millionairre Tonight - Survivor Finale

Wow! Of all the Hollywood events we went to in 2006, this was the only one that we were giddy about ....and then it exceeded expectations. Yul Kwon (Management Consultant 'current) masterminded Survivor 13 - the Cook Islands, beating emotional favorite Ozzy Lusth (Playboy Soft Core Porn Actor '?, Survivor '06). Look at the photos from the after party at Boulevard 3, sponsored by In Touch Magazine and fueled by KROL Vodka ...then read the items at the bottom.

6 Hours earlier at Chimp's Bar, we made these signs to bring to the finale. When they didnt allow signs inside the studio, we did even better by bringing them to the Survivors afterwards.

Billy (latino heavy metal singer, voted out 2nd '06) and his valentine, Candace. This is likely the closest they have ever gotten, or will get, in the history of the universe.
Sal Masakela (X Games ' 2000-04, E! Network Daily 10 Host 'current) weclomed his brother Nate (Survivor Cook Islands voted out 12th '06) to the world of celebrity red carpet reporting, as they interviewed their mother, Mrs. Masakela at the after party.
From L to R: Kiersten, JR Rotem (Britney Spears' Rebound Makeout 'Dec 06), Spinshoppe PR principal Melissa Rappaport, and David Weintraub (UTA Talent Agent turned Reality Star '07). JR checked out himself on the cover one of the several In Touch Magazines scattered across the table ...and then lent his diamond piano pendant featured on the magazine and on his neck to Melissa to bling around for awhile.

In the non reality celeb dept, Paris Hilton came and left before any Survivors arrived.
CBS Corporate Siblings Alert! - "Millionairre Models" crowned exactly 7 nights earlier on CBS's other big hit, The Amazing Race.

"Team Sobriety" Tyler and James arrived with Survivor Exile Island Champ, Aras Baskaukas, who was sporting some of his new Tundra Gear. We let Team Sobriety know that they were picked #1 in the Deerfield Academy Amazing Race fantasy reality draft and performed to expectations.

Recently outed by Perez Hilton, JP (voted out 5th, '06) channeled Ricki Martin and sang in to a bottle of KROL Vodka.
Even Seku, the embarassing victim of being the first person voted out had a posse at Boulevard 3. By far, Ozzy was the most celeb-like. He never even got to sit down, flanked for pictures non stop for hours on end.

Additional Party Coverage:

  • First to arrive: Brad and Billy (who came with his cousin who sported dark sunglasses the whole night)
  • Candace was decidedly anti-social and was never seen with Adam. When she first arrived she was very BFF with Jenny. The top 6 arrived almost an hour later than all the other survivors.
  • When signing the “Yul=MC2” poster, Yul first signed his name, then stopped, put his finger to his temple to think, and then continued with “Thank you for your support and best wishes….Love Yul, “The Brain”.
  • Yul and Ozzy had VIP tables side by side on the mezzanine. Yul’s was filled with family. Ozzy’s was filled with females. Cecilia enjoyed the party aspect of the night perhaps more than anyone, ….even hitting the red carpet with a drink in hand.
  • The 5 Original Hiki tribe members did a “hands in the center huddle/circle/cheer” at one point..
  • Becky changed in to a fashionable party dress after the finale…as did Brad (in to more typical Hollywood hoodie/jeans combo). Ozzy wore a hat all night.

From the Finale taping…what you didn’t see between commercial breaks:

  • An audience member yelled out to Jeff Probst asking what the tie breaker would have been had the final vote been for Becky, thus creating a 4-4 Yul/Ozzy tie. Probst hollered back, "We had something…it had been planned months ago.” Random audience member: “C’mon…tell us!” Probst: “Like that’s going to work…. Its hard enough to come up with new stuff after 13 seasons, we cant give that away for free". Hmmm...something to think about and ponder like what was glowing in Marcellus Wallace’s case in "Pulp Fiction"??.
  • Yul's mom wore a diamond encrusted paper clip on the lapel of her dress....of all the things to pick, a mundane office supply that perhaps best encapsulates her son’s organized and measured personality on the show.
  • The studio audience was overwhelmingly in favor of Ozzy. The loudest gasp and burst of emotion of the night was when Ozzy completed the puzzle in the first immunity challenge, sending Adam to eventual elimination.
  • Sundra with ripped arms and fierce conditioning was the only one on stage who looked better after survivor than they did while starved.

Where did they come from?

Jeff Probst asked the question “Where did you come from?” 2 times during the Reunion Special (Ozzy/Cowboy). As a Cast Producer, there is a particular interest on how Survivors came in to the process.

Rebecca and Billy – Both tried out at the NYC Open Casting Call. Billy went through the line “2 times to spread out my chances”. Jonathan was scouted by Casting Honcho herself, Lynn Spielman, at a party in Los Angeles. Jonathan was later recognized by CBS president Nancy Tellum when he came in to the network for final interviews. JP was recruited while eating breakfast at the Griddle on Sunset Blvd and hooked the recruiters when he told them he was from Costa Rica (unknowingly playing in to the latino angle). Stephanie had tried out for 2 previous seasons at the CBS affiliate in South Carolina and mentioned that someone else from her town had recently appeared on NBC’s “Deal or No Deal”.
