Who Had the Best 2007?

TheCHIMP.net asked select famous faces, "Which public figure had the best 2007?". Responses Given Exclusively and Direct to TheCHIMP.net:

Davey Havok
: “It all ends with Perez Hilton doesn't it?”

Rex Lee: “Al Gore. Nobel Prize, need I say more? Well, I guess I will: Academy Award.”

Mario Lopez: “Floyd Mayweather had a pretty good year. Made about 50 Million.”

Shanna Moakler: “I think Miley Cyrus. Her show and concerts have really taken off and it’s so awesome to see a young positive role model out there for my kids! I also think Angelina Jolie had a pretty amazing year and she is constantly sharing herself with others, its nice to see. “

Adrianne Curry:“The best public figure of 2007? OBAMA!!!”

Kim Kardashian:“I think the cast of High School Musical had a pretty good year.”

Samantha Harris: “I don’t have an answer for this.”

Giuliana Depandi: “I’m putting my chick cap on when I say Katie Holmes had a great year.

Not only did she give birth to one of the most beautiful babies I have EVER seen, but she also went from being a wallflower to one of Hollywood’s most glamorous Fashionistas. She ran and finished her first marathon, not easy. Plus, she’s responsible for one of the most amazing hairstyles of the year…that adorable bob with her freshly cut blunt bangs. All that while having her religion and marriage be scrutinized on a regular basis by the tabloids and the public in general. Go Katie!”

We're guessing these Danielle Stevens pieces, if ABC, E!, or husband Michael Hess is reading.

Dear Santa, Love Rex Lee

Between now and Christmas morning, check back here for the on going series "Dear Santa: Love, A Celebrity". Select famous faces speak exclusively to TheCHIMP.net on "What Celebrities Want For Christmas".

Today: Rex Lee (Oberlin '90, Miller Gold Agency '06)As the poster child for assistant abuse worldwide (courtesy of Entourage's Ari Gold) and the one cast member who "never gets to shoot anywhere cool", it would seem fair that all Rex Lee deserves at the end of a day is a good night's sleep.
Rex:A bed! Sears, Sears.com and their home delivery service are seriously messed up. I have to sleep on couches and spare beds of friends and Sears just gives me the run around.
TheCHIMP.net"Do you mind if we say the name of the company?"
Rex:"Call the assholes out!".
This year we learned that Rex worked as a casting assistant for several years and didnt quit that job until Entourage was wrapping its second season. Now he is an icon whose image adorns unauthorized clothing and he headlines celebrity fashion shows at hotspots like Les Deux himself.

Tomorrow:
Mario Lopez

TheCHIMP.net "Andy, anything you didnt get for Hanukkah that you still want?"
Andy: "Uhhh....not really. I kind of have everything I want already.
TheCHIMP.net: Hey, can I grab a quick photo?

The problem is, my husband Bill has been wanting one as well…so if he ends up getting his hands on one he probably will keep it for himself! MassHole: Survivor's School Lunch Lady Lied?

The dust from the Survivor China finale hasn't yet settled. Denise Martin (Douglas, MA school lunch lady '07) copped to distorting the story about being demoted from cafeteria to diarrhea, on her return from shooting the show.

Meanwhile, the intricate set from the live reunion show has settled. TheCHIMP.net exclusively obtained this photo of the pagoda roof rotting in an uncharacteristic LA rain shower on the CBS lot this afternoon (Tues 12.18).

Live on Scene: Survivor China Finale

As commissioner of the Survivor China pool, we attended the live finale at CBS to see lil' twerp Todd Herzog (Pleasant Grove H.S. - UT '03) win $1 million dollars last night (Sun. 12.17).
It was a more muted affair than the emotional Cook Island's finale a year ago, except for a generous decision of exec producer/creator Mark Burnett (Eco-Challenge '94, Survivor '00, Apprentice '04). Midway through the live reunion, he gifted $50,000 to the school lunch lady contestant who lost her job for appearing on the show. She is now cleaning the bathrooms as a janitor. (ouch)

Of note, a contestant from Burnett's own Survivor rip off , Pirate Master, committed suicide in July after competing on the quickly cancelled show. Kudos for stepping in.

NBC News Strengthened by Yeransian

Congrats to Leslie Yeransian (Deerfield ’96, Smith ’01, Northwestern Masters ‘05), the new on air reporter and personality for “News Team 10”, in Providence.

She’ll “have her eye on consumer stories/investigations”, she told TheCHIMP.net exclusively. Their website is reporting that local mechanics and moving truck companies are already cowering.
This is the same station where NBC’s real life Jim and Pam, Meredith Viera & Matt Laurer came from, as well as the dour, spartan, and hard faced Christiane Amanpour of CNN. Even though Leslie just ushered out her 20’s at a 1920’s themed flapper birthday bash (Sat 12.8), we don’t think she is hard faced at all.

Noteables in 20s costumes included: Jen Flood (Deerfield '97) and Annie Lynch (Deerfield '96)

SIGHTING: Red Sox Manager Beats Everything but a Cold

We're not sure anybody ever said "The Red Sox will win the world series (twice) before there will be a cure for the common cold".

However, TheCHIMP.net superspy from Boston, Rachel G. (Longmeadow H.S. - MA '91, Brandeis '95, '00) sent in this important scientific observation confirming it today:

"Terry Francona is next to me at CVS."
Terry (World Series Champ Mgr. '04, '07) popped in to the CVS at Brookline Ave & School St. (Brookline, MA) at 2:40 PM today (Sun 12.9). He bought Sudafed Daytime for Cold and Cough, an Aquafina water to swallow the pills, and drove off in his black escalade.

Even in the off season, he sported his oft ridiculed navy long sleeve nightgown thing, with the neckline "B" logo, and some earthbound blue sweatpants. The official pharmacy of the Red Sox did not "comp" his cold medicine.

Why no cell phone paparazzi photo? "I was too close to him" says Rachel. Booh.

(After) Concert at Central-Parc

It's not NYC, but now LA has its own Central-Parc. Brought to you by hospitality honcho Shereen Arazm's 2007 hit streak.

This year alone, her boutique nightclub SHAG turned 5, restaurant/celebrity-green-room Parc debuted in March, and now its sister outlet, ultra lounge Central got a virtual red carpet premiere last night (Sat. 12.8). We are just grateful to be invited to watch the ride.

Central, taking over the old Rokbar space on Las Palmas, continues the theme of the block: Central - Parc. The clever theme drew these people on opening night:

John Mayer (Center for Japanese Studies '95), hosted the opening as his official concert after party.

His ex's lil sister, Ashlee Simpson (lip syncer '04, nose transplant recipient '06), may or may not have been spying on him.

Among the salad of famous faces in attendance -- U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) -- were not the Mother and Daughter team you would expect: Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore followed John over from his concert to the Parc side while daughter Rumer Willis (Demi's Vag '88), partied under the same roof at Central. Very Dina Lohan.

Note: Above Rumer-Lindsay file photo dug up for polemics only. No actual Lohan species was in sight.

Phil Viardo Plays Dad to Adrianne Curry and Christopher Knight in Mother Russia

Every family trip needs two things: A Dad, and bull penis eating. Phil Viardo served as the former for the WE TV special “Chris and Adrianne do Russia”. He shlepped with friends, clients, and still newlyweds Adrianne Curry (America’s Next Top Model ‘03) and Christopher Knight (Peter Brady ‘70s, IT Industry Guru ‘90s) to host the Mrs. World pageant in Russia recently.

Manager extraordinaire and fellow- straight - male - in - the - entertainment pr-world Phil (Creskill H.S. – NJ ’95, Berklee Music College ’99, Harvard ’99) brought this project to life. For that, he was hauled in by TheCHIMP.net for a KGB style interrogation:

  • How would you compare the show to any of the iconic cinematic journeys: "Beavis and Butthead do America", "Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey", or “Me You, and Dupree”?

PHIL:Are you implying that I am “Dupree”??? HA, No, I think the trip was a nice blend of all of the above.

  • What’s the one thing you want people to know about the show/trip that will end up on the cutting room floor?
PHIL:Haha… there was so much good footage that it’s hard to say. I guess on my end, they left out a lot of my womanizing on the trip J I just wanted to show the world Russia’s OTHER beauty.
  • What first spawned the idea for Russia '07?
PHIL:I booked Chris and Adrianne to host the 2007 Mrs. World Pageant that took place in Russia. I was tapped to be a celebrity judge (they have really low standards for the term “celebrity” over there), so it seemed like a good idea to exploit the opportunity of us already being there. Hence, Jeff Androsky (our director) and I cooked up the idea and quickly got it green lit.
  • You’re the rare Harvard man in Hollywood. What came before that?
PHIL:I started out school in Professional Children’s School in NYC along with Mac Caulkin (though he was younger), Sarah Gellar was in my class, Don Faison – all the kids that were and are working in the biz. I then moved to Jersey and went to Cresskill High, graduating in 1995.
  • At what moment did you stop and have a moment of clarity: I am in the middle of Russia with a Brady and a Top Model?
PHIL:Well, I am from there, so me being there was not such a big deal. Me being there with a Brady and Adrianne… with cameras in tow – 5 years ago I’d never even imagine, but more recently – we talked about it a lot. We have traveled to other countries together and they have always expressed interest in visiting Russia with me, so when this opportunity came along – it truly just made good sense.
  • How is Russia “like” or “not like” Rocky IV?

PHIL:HA! Well, there are no more bread lines and you can’t use jeans as currency anymore… Although, the political climate is changing there right now towards the old days. Only this time – the country is LOADED and ARROGANT, so I hope we get to avoid another cold War. So, as long as one stays under the Radar and enjoys the best the country has to offer – all is good.

  • Who got recognized more on the street in Russia and what was the weird thing they remembered or would say to that person?

PHIL:You know what, Me.

Russia has their own version of Top Model and Brady Bunch doesn’t play there. This was JUST FINE with Chris and Adri. They like the anonymity, especially when they are working . My dad was and is a very famous musician there, so I still get the residual of a “Son of a Famous Person” kind of recognition…. Dare I say, kind of like a Sean Stewart? (Yikes!)

PHIL:Funny you should say that. I was at the last one and we were all sitting with Danny when it all went down. It was Adrianne and Chris who egged him on initially. None of us knew what was coming, but I was laughing my ass off. I will present next to Danny any day. He is good people, just don’t try to hump him.
The show racked up huge numbers for WE so set your TIVOs, or check the repeat schedule.

Celtics and Miami Heat "Club" Together After the Game

Ray Allen and Criminal Mike in a Dec 2006 file photo courtside in Boston.
Courtesy of: Boston Celtics

The stars of the Miami Heat didn't let their 95-85 loss to the Celtics prevent them from hosting their victors to a local South Beach late night on Friday (11.30). Borrowing a tradition from Beerpong, they drank together following the game.

Friend of the NBA, Criminal Mike (Syracuse '97) met up with Celtic saviors Ray Allen (UConn '96, All American '95-96) and Paul Pierce (Kansas '99 - left eary) at the often urban club "The Fifth" after the game. That's normal. The surprise? Heat front man Dwayne Wayde sharing the table and company. This followed a post game dinner scene at Prime 112.
Crim accidentally sat in Pierce's booth top seat causing a mini Mexican standoff. This friction comes as a surprise seeing that Pierce spent his off-court time in Kansas majoring in "Crime and Deliquency Studies".
