BullRun Car Race Makes Pitstop on Sunset Blvd.

The Bullrun Rally is an annual cross country car race on public roads involving 100 cars, celebrities and a party in a different city every night for a week. "The most glamorous and high profile 'luxury lifestyle' automotive rally - aka an RV convention in a tuxedo - made a pitstop at Sunset Plaza for a 944 hosted party last night (Wednesday, 25 June).

The ubiquitous MTV funded Callum Best abstinence tour survived another night without temptation from this totally natural Sunset Blvd. vignette.

Claudia Lari (Whippany Park H.S. - NJ '95), Bobby Pura (Danbury H.S. - CT '93, Syracuse '97) and Lisa Falcone (Agoura Hills H.S. - CA '9?, 944 Magazine 'current)

A slimmed down Joe Francis (USC '95, Panama City Jailcell '07) and Clifton Collins Jr. (Traffic '00, Star Trek '09) made the scene...that quickly moved to the DJ A.M. / Travis Barker franken-concert at the Roxy.

Creams

TheCHIMP.net recently visited the Wipeout Set, 45 minutes north of LA in Canyon Country.

Wipeout, aka "Fear Factor without the gross" aka "just the good parts of America's Home Videos" premiered to huge numbers last night (Tuesday, 24 June).
This morning, the Exec Producer is saying:
We creamed the 8pm competion. We built strongly from 1/2 hour to 1/2 hour. We were the highested rated demo of the night. We ended the night with 10.7 million people tuned in. For summer time this is HUGE.
In a segment for the Jimmy Kimmel Live, Superman and other superheroes ran the course.

Congrats to friends, colleagues, and creators Matt Kunitz (Torrey Pines H.S. '86, USC '90) and Scott Larsen (Torrey Pines H.S. '86)

Calendar Boxing Babes vs. Abstinence

A gas leak at hotspot The GreenDoor pushed an MTV reality show to an even better location last night. (Thursday 19 June) The untitled show stars noted girl wrangler Callum Best (Lohan '07) and his posse trying out abstinence for 50 days amidst Hollywood temptations. They relocated to once again hotspot Les Deux and found a bunch of model boxers - that fits the bill.

Knockouts Ringleader Parvati Shallow (l), Jon Condon (not a temptress), and Lauren Bergfeld model the July 2009 shot... of Lauren.
Charity boxing hotties "Knockouts for Girls" welcomed the show in to their calendar release party....and ended up on air as temptresses in their natural habitat. Good idea, as KO4G's spokesmodels have proven to be good TV in the past.

After hangining inside for 45 minutes, Louis Carreon and Callum Best shoot "their entrance".

Nicest guy in Hollywood TM Zen Freeman, guards Melissa Rappaport from the abstinence vowed group.

Bizarre Primetime Emmy Voting

As a esteemed member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences, I filled out my nominating ballots for the Primetime Emmy Awards today. The sucktastic rules prohibit me from voting for LOST in every category 8 times.

Click the image to see it bigger.

In the category of Awards Shows and Specials (like the Oscars, and Grammy ceremonies themselves, which you vote on as actual TV programs) I have no idea how I never saw "Douchebag Beach"and "GILF". Please let these get nominated.

In the awards show special, I only voted for the awards show I went to this year..the one where the host got thrown in a pool.

Even More Boston in the Finals

ABC now serves The NBA finals with a side dish of ads for hyper-obstacle-course reality show "Wipeout". Even on the court itself.I am pleased to announce that I cast the host for this show. After wading through talent all spring, John Henson (E!'s Talk Soup '02) won the title of my casting competition. Another Massachusetts ingredient in the finals.

First episode airs: Tuesday, June 24. 8 PM.

Celtic Pride in LA

The OONKA watch company gifted $3000 japanese techno harajuku girl watches at the DDClabs store on Melrose last night (Thursday 13 June). Since we didn't qualify, the watch we got was a "Trial Version"...made out of paper with a fake time on it. At least it will tell the correct time twice a day.
The unique flavor of 1981 Brooklyn manifested itself oddly with a disproportionate amount of Celtic Pride following Boston's huge NBA Finals comeback across town at Staples. The event picked up as soon as the game ended.

Pink is the Newer Blog

Perez Hilton:PerezHilton.com
Trent Vanegas:Pink is the New Blog

Trent (Detroit H.S. '92) relaunched his neon adorned URL with a party at SBar in Hollywood that brought out reality queens Heidi, Stephanie Pratt, and Spencer.

Michael Yo (Fear Factor Conestant '01, Host of E! Entertainment Radio) and stable mate Marc Malkin (Planet Gossip 'current) are not intimidated by people who do the same thing as them, but on the internet.

Overheard a movie star in attendance say, "I actually really like this P.I.N.K Vodka." (related to blog? No. Well, sort of.)
  • Thanks to EFG for hosting a great Wednesday.

Tune in Alert: Celebrity Circus Tonight, 930 PM, NBC

Check out TheCHIMP.net friend, mentor, and new celebrity ring master Matt Kunitz (Torrey Pines H.S. - CA '86, USC '90, Real World '97, Fear Factor '05) when he raises the curtain on NBC's "Celebrity Circus" tonight, (Wed 11 June) at 9:30 PM.

Exec Producer Kunitz exclusively told TheCHIMP.net this morning:
"We put on a full dress rehearsal last night ....there is no obvious weak link among the seven celebrities. I'm shocked by how far our celebrities have come in just 8 short weeks of training."

Then he gave everyone lunch money. From the NY Post's injury report review, it sounds as solid as MASH. That ran for 18 years, so look for more photos of Kunitz smiling. Set those TIVOs.

Update: Thursday 12 June
Initial ratings are strong. Exec says, "We held our number throughout which means everyone who came enjoyed the show! We won the 10P hour outright."

Chris Masterson, Celebrity Doorman

We haven't seen much of Chris Masterson (Scary Movie 2 '01) since "Malcolm in the Middle" ended in 2006. He surfaced last night at a surprisingly non violent, and surprisingly still open, Shag nightclub.

We caught Chris working the front door himself, including waving pal DJ Steve Aoki to the front quickly. The two retreated inside quickly to catch brother Danny (Roseanne '94, That 70s Show '70s) DJ'ing the secret celeb heavy night, "Club Nuvo".

Wunderkid promoters Lauren Fields (San Clemente H.S. - CA '06, LMU '10), Sebastien Letellier (Montclair Prep - CA '06, LMU '10), Noah Goldman (Campbell Hall H.S. - CA '06, Cal State Northridge '10), and Becca Wright (Campbell Hall - CA '07, FIDM '11),

Indie/Coachella faves MGMT...came just for the giftbags?

Let Donna Martin Do Sky Graffiti!

The Oxygen cable network spewed smokey gases throughout various barrios of LA today promoting the new season Tori Spelling's reality show. Giuliana Depandi (Maryland '96, E! News 'current) first sighted it in collegiate Westwood. 45 minutes later, I saw it materialize over the fashion district in downtown LA and pulled out the Canon.

We have NO Friends in High Places

Amidst the excitement of Obamania last night (Tues 3 June), TheCHIMP.net sadly reports the defeat of a Deerfield candidate.

Kate Whitman (Deerfield ’95, Wellesly ’99) sought aU.S. Congress seat repping NJ’s 7th Congressional District. (Springfield, Edison, Union Township), her second campaign in a year. We trust Kate will eventually follow her ex-governor mom in to New Jersey public life sporting a red jersey.

Congratulations Elizabeth Hasslebeck!

The flashing missive "George Clooney is now single" in my facebook feed, triggered a shudder for our Fear Factor alum Sarah Larson (Go Go Dancer '05, '09). Now what?

My next thought was "Congrats Elisabeth Hasslebeck (BC '98, The View ' current) for regaining the crown of "Most Successful Reality Show Alum" of all time.

Chris Harrick Picks Fight with the New Yorker - and Wins

In 2005, Time Magazine named popculture scientist Malcolm Gladwell (Univ of Toronto '84, The Tipping Point '00) one of the "100 most influential people". Chris Harrick disagrees.

Putting pen to paper, Chris (Deerfield '94, B.C. '98, UC Berkeley Business '05) challenged the intellectual icon on a recent New Yorker story having something to do with men in suits having the same weird machine in thought bubbles above their heads.

"I have never sent a letter to the editor ever in my life. which makes me 1 for 1. The article by Gladwell was just so bad and off the mark I had to send, " Harrick told TheCHIMP.net exclusively.

With Harrick's counter-argument now embarassing Gladwell on his home turf, the former wrestling star has performed a triple take-down of Gladwell, TIME and the New Yorker in one shot. Congrats, grappler.

Read it in the June 9th New Yorker, or here.
