No Scooping the Hosts

The People Magazine of the internet, Hollyscoop (UC Santa Barabara 'various),threw a pre-Halloween Media Mixer to celebrate on the roof of their new Hollywood digs last night. (Thurs 30 October).
We'd tell you who was there and what happened but its bad taste to 'scoop the hosts. And getting a placement here has always made everyone happy. So enjoy this party shot instead.

Red Carpet / Blue Carpet

If you still don't know who you are voting for, then go here and never come back.
But if you're still deciding between the hot lady and the Tiger Woods guy, here are 3 sites that should help you make up your mind in the next 168 hours.

If Washington, DC really is Hollywood for ugly people, this really is their Defamer / Perez secret lovechild.

If you only know the "pie chart", you're missing out. Every statistical visual you never knew existed in this avalanche of math.

Our sister blog, Political Party Time covers the party scene for politics in a way only we you can appreciate.

With regret, we post these links knowing you will never come back here.

Best Buy Rocks Out with New Guitar Hero World Tour -- Mega Party

From the first noise complaint punctuated champagne sunrise a few years ago, we've always been faithful to Guitar Hero, cheating with Rock Band only because it fit the party setting better. No longer.
The Guitar Hero World Tour Launch Party rocked in 2 massive sound stages next to the West Hollywood Best Buy late in to the early morning today. (Sat-Sun 25/26 Oct).
Just in time for Halloween, the Smashing Pumpkins emerged for a full concert at the party. Female bassist Ginger Reyes (UCLA '98-00) broke out her costume a week early, dressing as that pixie pig-tailed character from the actual game. Very cool.

Too busy rocking out with random new band-mate friends on an obscene number of personal sound stages to spy on the celebs in attendance. Can't tell you how well Mischa Barton (Professional Children's School -NY '04), Dean McDermott (Tori & Dean '07), or the recently stitched up Zac Levi (Chuck 'current) played, because I can tell you precisely about the sick new songs. (Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi, Eye of the Tiger, and Sweet Home Alabama to name a few).
Cooler drumset, two guitars, and a new mic stand. Neighbors, you have been warned. This is going to get rowdy.
Every rockstar needs wardrobe - we're getting ours from sneaker legends Creative Recreation, who were gifting cool kids.
High five to BR & Entertainment Marketing Company on a great event, thanks.

Gavin Rossdale Unplugged @ Esquire House, Beverly Hills

Vh1 Save the Music hosted a fundraiser with a performance by Gavin Rossdale (Bush '95, Gwen's man '95-current) at the Esquire House in the hills of Beverly last night. (25 Oct)
Gavin sang 5 songs, including fall 2008's most popular cover song, "Landslide".
This event at the "ultimate bachelor pad" (as the house calls itself) reached a level of class and "tophatting" rarely seen in these party reports. A single girl friend mentioned to me "I would [redacted] any guy who had this house!" Care to respond, Maxim?.
A Kilted Man in the closet serves you 25 or 50 year old Scotch...your choice. (Our choice? As much Effen Vodka as possible.
The Esquire house has a computerized toilet. Auto flushes. Temperature controlled.

Since its founding in 2003, The Esquire House has partnered with charities to raise over $7m.

E! Channel Social Club Holds Meeting @ Winston's

Madonna and Guy Ritchie, now Hyla and Michael Yo - cohosts on the E! Channel another pair ending their run.

We celebrated with show host Hyla on his birthday eve at the surprisingly resurgent Winston's last night (Friday 24 Oct).

With an upside down smile, we've learned that The Yo on E! daily satellite radio show about pop culture, celebrities, and gossip is ending the day after the election, November 5.

Are you sure monopolies don't reduce consumer choice? Aired on Sirius and XM, the whole E! Radio Channel is actually going away.

Well documented man about town celebrities Ben Lyons (At the Movies 'current) huddled in the birthday corner booth near/with Jamie Lynn Sigler (Meadow Soprano '97, Jericho H.S. - NY '99).

She kept putting her face in to my photos like a frat boy. So annoying.

DJ Mr. Best, undeserved low profile, big thumbs up.

Maroon 5 Breeder's Cup Party

Live on Scene: Adam Levine (Brentwood School '97 - CA) yells at the republican national convention imitation crowd to "wake up"!! But this is the 25th Breeder's Cup kick off party.
The crowd is overwhelmingly male, white, top hat wearing, 40+ and doesn't know who he is.
Jack Osbourne (original MTV Celebrealtiy '02) , Borat's Naked Wrestling partner, and various celebs like Nicole Richie are here at the new palladium. By my eye, she is not drinking the unlimited Grey Goose. (Thurs 1140 PM)

Upclose photography by RL, thanks.

NYC Party Report: US Weekly & Free Phones

Will someone please interview the BFF's of a tabloid star to ask them how often they get a new hand me down phone? (Real BFF's please, not those ones).

Whitney Port (Crossroads H.S. - CA '03, USC '07) picked up a new blackberry at the annual US Weekly Hot Hollywood Party held at Skylight studios in NYC last night (Tues 21 October). So....what happens to her old phone?Or that new one?

The usual LA awesomeness of US Weekly's annual fall party that we celebrate often stayed home in the eastern time zone this year. Booh. My party snitch says "
more of a NY vibe here, a little more laid-back, not as high energy."

Ms. Port is in NYC to shoot her own spinoff of The Hills, "The City", (sneak peek) which begs the question, "Will this finally be the Laguna Beach/Hills spinoff that isn't insta-cancelled?" A report card:

Musical Detours in "the 818"

Because we haven't signed Camp Freddy as a PR client yet, we'll minimize the usual cheerleading of their guest star performers at the opening of the Galpin Auto Sports - home of MTV's Pimp My Ride - on Saturday night (19 Oct). Yes, celebs showed up in the valley on a Saturday night.

For the second night in a row, it was a diverse stage -- everyone from Cypress Hill (Lollapalooza '92-95)  to Ryan Starr (American Idol '02).

Free TheCHIMP.net T-Shirt to the first commenter to correctly ID this  psuedo-celebrity attendee, who did not rock out on stage but has probably helped you every single day of your life.

Hint: It's hidden somewhere on this very page. And it's not Scott Baio.

Justin Timberlake After Party @ Prive in Las Vegas

OMG OMG OMG, there are celebs over there.

After the show that pulled in better performances than the Grammys ever does, it was up to the Planet Hollywood second floor to reach the Vegas outpost of classic Miami hotspot Prive for Justin Timberlake's after party.
He will always be remembered for Eminem's taunt, "Chris Kirkpatrick, you can get your ass kicked....", but he didnt do much to contradict that wussy pr profile by sporting bright yellow ear plugs in the club. JT is at his side. The ubiquitous Robin Leach lurked to the far left. (click to enlarge photo)
will.I.am (Emmy Winner '08) DJ'd, while Black Eyed Pea-mate Apl.de.ap (Curie H.S. -IL '93) watched his back.

My new favorite thing inthe whole world is the best table in all of Vegas - "Table 69" a VIP table in the kitchen of the club. Despite the unfortunate name, not having it in the future would be like getting sent back to coach from first class.
Imagine a dressing room within the club, and an amazing spot to actually talk and hang with friends inbetween sojourns out in to the madness through that black door on the right.
The neighboring strip poll has its own press wall. Thats more vegas than vegas. World's party amabassador Lil Jon (Douglass H.S. - Atlanta '89) left his actual signature, and his signature parting war cry on the wall. (above - Yeahhhhhhh...OK!)
High Fives to Judaism's Justin Levine and the OG for looking after us.

Jonas Brothers Justin Timberlake Las Vegas Charity Show

Live on scene: Justin Timberlake headlines a benefit concert of tons of stars tonight like Rihanna, Will.I.Am, Leona Lewis, and others. Justin surprised by coming out first of all, and introducing the Jonas Brothers as "some guys who kind of remind me of another band awhile back....but we couldn't play instruments."
This Jonas (Joe) came out to our row to say hello. He is not the one who has sex with Miley Cyrus.

Lionel Richie made a surprise appearance for a dueling piano version of "Easy".

50 Cent with two generations of boy banders..???

Exclusive: 4 Irrelevant Questions with a Survivor Cast Off

Although you probably stopped watching Survivor in the friendster era, it’s still in the top 12 of the 1145 new episodes of all TV each week.
We snuck an exclusive chat with latest vote-off Jacquie Berg, (Pharmaceutical Sales in Santa Barabara ‘current) to ask random questions about her experience on a show still in our top 12 also.
Jacquie spoke with us (above) from Vegas while visiting for a job interview.

TheCHIMP.net:Whats the first thing you ate when you got to the vote off camp?
Jacquie: A snickers bar. I was craving starbucks. All I wanted was a starbucks.

TheCHIMP.net:Do you think (nicely manicured gay corporate lawyer) Charlie wants to bone (extremely well manicured straight doctor) Marcus?
Jacquie:Yes.

TheCHIMP.net:What’s the one thing that surprised you about Africa itself?
Jacquie:It wasn’t that hot. It was California weather. There weren’t that many bugs. It wasn’t that scary. I never saw any animals. All the edits of gorillas (they show) right next to us, there was no way. I went on hike after hike looking for animals and never saw one. We always heard the animals at dusk though.

TheCHIMP.net:Did people start recognizing you on the street when CBS announced the cast, or when the show started airing?
Jacquie:Not really. That hasn’t really happened.

TheCHIMP.net:Did you think about going to the mall to get recognized on the day after you got voted out? I used to suggest that to Fear Factor contestants.
Jacquie:A mall would have been a good idea.

Survivor airs Thursdays @ 8PM on CBS.

Eyewitness Report: DJ AM Surprises as Jay-Z Reopens the Palladium

TheCHIMP.net hip-hoperative Rich Leist (Muskeegan High School - MI '98, Ironman '08) played "party snitch" atJay-Z's re-baptism of the Hollywood Palladium last night. (Wed 15 October).
DJ AM's first public appearance since tragedy proved to be a muted highlight amongst the crowd of 100% debate skippers and 0% McCain supporters.
While other websites import street thugs, we are happy to have Ironmen who could kick thier ass on the street and on the sheet. Read the full review below:

"Doors that were scheduled to open at 8 opened at 6. The energy in the air was unbelievable. It was the rebirth of music in Hollywood. Cops out in full force keeping a watchful eye on the cleanest looking hip hop heads who would pay Minimum $150 per ticket. I heard that 2 tickets went for $700 at the car wash across the street. The crowd was filled with guys who are the “Turtles” of their entourage. The show was filled with all races. A united hip hop front. There were no Celebs spotted from my view point but a couple tall guys who looked like LA Clippers. Drink prices started were a standard $7.00 for liquor and 12 once beers. $14.00 for doubles and 24 ounce beers.

The show was opened by DJ EVER from Power 106. His set had to have gone on for over an hour. The crowd was starting to get ornery as the body heat of 4000 people began to over power the central air system of the NEW HOLLYWOOD PALLADIUM. At around 9:45 JAY- Z took the stage and the crowd went bananas. The smoke, not from fog machines, came billowing out of every nook and cranny of the new venue. The Hollywood Palladium was officially christened. Jay opened with “Takeover.” As expected every song was a hit that crowd could bounce too. Jay-Z told the crowd what on honor it was to open the new PALLADIUM and how Frank Sinatra was the last artist to open the Venue. He then Declared “Ole Brown Eyes” is in the building.

I knew going into the show that there would be a political undertone, but I did not think that the whole show would be political rally. I am all about this political election and I came to a hip hop show to get my mind off all the shit that is going on in the world, but this show was far from that.
I am slightly disappointed that this was the case, but I do hope some of my ticket money is going to the Obama campaign. One great intro he did have was saying McCain should follow this advice and when it comes to his running mate, “home girl.... You know, You betcha! If you having girl problems I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one!” If there was a McCain supporter in the building they kept their right to voice their opinion silent.

Before the show the internet was buzzing with all the special guests that were going to be there. Lil Wayne, Kanye, Beyonce, T.I.......... Most of these rumors stemmed from Craigslist and people trying to scalp their tickets for ridiculous prices. The only guest to come on for one number was T.I.. They rocked a couple of verses of “Swagger Like Us.” I know that Kanye is in town because he is finishing his mix of his new album. I was surprised not to see him at the show. DJ AM was part of the show, but nothing more than a band member. DJ AM was on stage the whole show but never got a chance to show off. Jay did take time to acknowledge him, the tragedy that took place and send his thoughts to the victims. Jay at one point got behind DJ AM’s rig and play some song snippets on his own. It made me think that DJ AM must still be hurting and might be unable to spin the way he did before the accident.

The overall set was short. The show started at 9:45 and ended at 11ish.

All in all it was Jay-Z show that was spectacular to be apart of. Despite what VIBE magazine thinks, Jay- Z is the best alive hip hop artist. He knows how to work a crowd and make his shows grand. Every lyric is clear and he makes you appreciate the art that is Hip Hop.

Hova left the stage be saying, “This was a historic night for me. Hope it was a historic night for Y’all.” and for me it was.

The Rock is in the building

Friday Night Peach Pit - The Kress

Annalynne McCord (Homeschooled '05) is on 90210, she's on the cover of a free magazine handed out in pizza places and coffee shops, and she celebrated both at The Kress tonight (Fri 1o Oct) . The whole school was there!
McCord's schoolmate, varsity kickball captain Ryan Eggold (Santa Margarita Catholic H.S. - CA '02, USC '06) arrived early.
West Beverly lacrosse player Kellan Lutz (Twilight '08) arrived later (above left).
Oddly, both party sponsor LA Direct (left), which is the size of a paperback book, and its full size competitor 944, share the same tag line "Fashion, Entertainment, Lifestyle ...handed out free everywhere".

Mandanas and Trucker Hats Get A Reality Show

Brace Yourself. This will soon be a TV show.
By law, when the LA Times annoints you the “Douche Baggiest Bar” in LA, that award comes with an automatic reality show deal. The infamous Saddle Ranch - the overfriendly bar with the mechanical bull – is developing a self promotional reality show. A productive zip code, they join E!'s Sunset Tan, only 1056 feet west down Sunset Blvd.
The show will feature the "saddle ranch lifestyle". Living across the street, our last 35 encounters with the"lifestyle" included "drinks that smoke", 4ft beer towers, and free windex shots given to every customer and played off as "Bro, I'm hooking you up".

Mean older brother "Wayne" from the Wonder Years is the producer. He's casting for "attractive, fun males and females, between 18-35 years old who are bartenders, servers, cocktail servers, hosts and hostesses."

Is it a diss to the 80 bandana and trucker hat’d actors already working there who can't get cast on a reality show about themselves? Bring a headshot to the reality casting, ya'll.

One Sunset Turns One with a Celebrity Circus

Now that it's October, Olympians taste like stale Borat. Thus, Boston based USA Gymnastics champ Alicia Sacramone (Winchester H.S. - MA '06, Brown '10) turning up at One Sunset's 1st Birthday party last night (Thurs 3 October) raised a few question marks.
Remember her fling with Red Sox shortstop Jed Lowrie (Stanford '05), reported last month by Boston gossip royalty, the Inside Track? Who is in L.A. playing against the Angels in the playoffs? Related? (See, there are a lot of question marks.)
She might have been copying fellow party goer Lauren Conrad, who made it safe to date a baseball player earlier this year. As for Alicia, TMZ didn't harass her, as much as confuse her. (click the image above) While most celebrities hide or do a "walk and talk" at best, Alicia acted like a street reporter waiting for a cue, standing on her mark and patiently waiting for the camera man to light her and begin the sidewalk press conference. Weird.
The theme party itself - the Moulin Rouge goes to a dollhouse circus on uppers - rocked. A killer candy bar, David Arquette, unlimited bar, two life size Raggedy Anns having a pillow fight with cotton candy and two Dancing with the Stars stars- Kim Kardashian and Lance Bass.
Congrats to FoTCn Emily Olsen and the One Group (STK, Coco DeVille, Tenjune) on blowing out a candle, a milestone that few LA hotspots achieve.

"Pantera, You're Such a Softie" - LA Times' Metromix

If Hollywood had high powered lobbyists, they'd probably work for Pantera Sarah (Emmy Winner '08). The normally press shy club owner, promoter, and associate producer of the award winning celeb-only pro-bama video "Yes We Can", graces the cover of this week's LA Times' Metromix, revealing a lot about herself and her activism. While famous faces are no surprise at her nightclubs, who else could bring a US Senator as their "show and tell" in 4th grade? (Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wisconsin).

Dedicated to leveraging her unique strengths for Obama over the last two years, Alexandra LeTellier's profile details Pantera working the phones in Iowa on caucus day with pal Scarlett Johanssen (Mrs. Reynolds 'current) , and when on the verge of (happy) tears later that night, was verbally poked by Obama himself, "Pantera, you're such a softie.".

Pantera (center) hosts Fergie, Jessica Alba, Wilmer Valderrama, Rosario Dawson and friends in Denver during the DNC. (Courtesy: Metromix)

We can imagine that she has been called lots of things by those who have not been admitted to her venues. Softie? Further proof that Obama ="change".
