11.23.2008 Jonas Brothers @ House of Blues

Our TheChimp.net tween operative strikes again - sending in this live missive about a "flash mob" gathering on Sunset Blvd. right now (Sun 320pm) as the Jonas Brothers are performing a fake surprise at the House of Blues.
Operative: "Can I take a picture of your sign?"
Fans: "We're not done coloring yet."

Tipsters: Inside Barack Obama's 47th Birthday

Today: A rare east coast party report...must be politics

Exclusive photos and items sent in by two special tipsters inside Barack Obama's birthday party in Boston last night. (Mon 4 Aug). Candy (Dana Hall '65, Mt. Vernon '69) and Stanley Glazer (Granby High - VA '63, Medical College Virginia '68) filed this cross continental party report.

"We had a truly unique experience....we also caught up with a friend of ours, Eric Lesser, who sits behind Obama on the plane and is responsible for making certain Obama has his speeches in hand before every event."

Harry Connick Jr. (Jesuit H.S. '85 - New Orleans) sang a "Happy Birthday" duet with his daughter Sara.

On this night, Obama had only cake in his hand. He told assembled friends hadn't been back in the State Room at Faneuil Hall since the night he lost to Hillary in New Hampshire back in January.

Would You Walk Out on Diddy?

TheCHIMP.net caught hip hop super producer Rodney "DarkChild" Jerkins (Pleasantville H.S. - NJ '95, Michael Jackson '97, Destiny's Child '99, Jay Z '01, Britney Spears '09) after he spoke at the Dream Center mission/church last night (Thursday, July 10).

I did know that he's the wunderkid yelling "DarkCHILD!!" over his songs.I didn't know Rodney was super religious. He told that at age 17, after he had already been recruited by Michael Jackson, he spurned Puffy at the height of Puffy's mid 90s dominance.

He walked out of Puffy's office during a signing ceremony to join his "Hit Men" team of super producers because Puffy told him "Wait till you see how we're going to market Jesus Christ". He left a signed check behind in the room. He went on to sell 160 million records for other people before he turned 30 last year: "Say My Name" (Destiny's Child), "If You Had My Love"(J LO), and "When I Grow Up" (Pussycat Dolls) top 10 right now.

TheCHIMP.net caught up with him afterwards. With Bentley parked nearby in his personal spot at the one of a kind church, he told us he is working with Britney Spears right now. "The track is hot", "Britney comes from the church...she has good people around her now,...her dad....others", and that he thinks he can reach her through faith/spirituality.

LA isnt known for having the religious enthusiasm of red states, but when it does "church", it also does "concert".

Update: LA Sheriff Invade Malibu, Take Sides with Surfers

Following on the heels of Ace Ventura's goofy flavor of Malibu paparazzi war story, another CHIMP.net reader checking in from the 'bu, sent in this first hand account of a military invasion today.
Click to enlarge - great resolution
Today (July 5th) the Sheriff was called in to enforce the private beach boundry at the Colony. At least 20 paps were hanging out waiting, probably for another shot of Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy. The Sheriffs came in full force including a boat, helicopter and at least 6 officers. The paps were told that the private beach extends to the "mean tide." This essentially means they can't be where the sand is dry. They were all forced to stand in the water.

There's a joke swimming around in here about paps wading in the shallow end, but the brain is still at the jersey shore playing video games and the empty weekend head cant find it yet.

Live on Scene: Inside the Survivor Finale in NYC

Congrats to our newest millionaire friend, Parvati Shallow (Female Boxer '06, Rich 'current). We watched her win prom queen of the Survivor Sweet 16th season (Fans vs. Favorite) from the 6th row of the Ed Sullivan Theatre in NYC on Sunday night (11 May). The fresh out of the plastic Gucci dress should have tipped us off. Gary "Babooey" Dell'Abate sat 2 rows in front of us. He is less toothy in person.

Coachella: DJ AM, Aoki, and Masterson at T-Mobile Def Tone Party

After 87 bands & DJ's on Saturday at Coachella (26 Apr), DJ AM, Steve Aoki and DannyMasterson gave everyone's favorite performance of the weekend -- a DJ symphony at the T-Mobile Def Tone After Party.Click photo to enlarge

It's not a real party weekend unless T-Mobile & Brent Bolthouse can adequately strain out the glitteratti from an otherwise mass market demographic.

A sketchy drive through miles of flat dust to a hushed private airport, and a tucked away hangar concealed this desert oasis. The DJ symphony, pioneered with Nicole Khristine's Jewelry event in February, continues to not suck.

Hallelujah! Billy Graham Biopic Features Familiar Faces

Congrats (and good luck) to our friend Armie Hammer (Rumored to be Batman '09) who is competing with Miley Cyrus for dominance of the blossoming Tennessee film production scene right now. While shooting the Billy Graham biopic, "Billy: The Early Years" in Lebanon, Tennessee on Sunday (20 Apr), Armie welcomed his dude-bro to the spotlight: The official LA Best New Artist of the year, Tyler Ramsey (SMU '96).

For the avoidance of doubt, those Miley Cyrus extras you see around town are subject to child labor laws.

    Sneak Preview: Kitchen24

Mel's Diner for the cool kids is coming soon:
Yeah, yeah, yeah..."LA sucks...everything ends at 2AM". When Kitchen24 opens its doors to the public next month, they will never close. With a proverbial glowing net open 24 hours a day to catch the crowd flowing across Cahuenga from flavor of the seasonTM hotspot Goa, consider the night...extended.

Proprietress Kim Roussell (Cinespace '02, pictured above) welcomed select friends and choice tastemakers to a sneak preview on Saturday (12 Apr). With nightlife legal eagle J.T. Fox (Dolce Group '03, Central '07, Beso '08) on board as well, we will work out double in anticipation of unnecessary late night binging. Also coming soon: stale morning burps.

Inside American Idol Gives Back - What You Won't See on TV

A CHIMP.net snitch sent us these missives from inside the "live show" of "Idol Gives Back" tonight (Wed 9 Apr) even though 99% of the show taped 3 days ago on Sunday night.
    • The judges aren't here. (Exec Producer) Nigel Lithgow is on stage trying to rile up the crowd. Trying to make us clap when we r not even on tv.
    • Also he told us in the first minute of the phones being open, they received 3000 calls.
    • The idols are "answering calls" but literally pick up phone when camera is on and phone down when its off. They r faking the whole thing laaaaame.
    • Oops, I guess they r really talking to people on phone.
Some joke about all of the idols rehearsing for life after A.I. by "answering phones" would be appropriate here, but instead we'll add these pretty photos of Ryan and Simon posing with kids who have no idea who they are. Even if they had a local TV, which they dont, they would get the African version of the show where all 3 judges look like Randy Jackson.

Inside Grammys Weekend: Jermaine Dupri's Party

Jermaine Dupri threw the tightest and most intimate hush hush grammy event on Friday night (8 Feb). At least as small as you can get with a carpet out front.

Attendees: GF Janet Jackson, Nelly, Ashanti, 50 cent nemesisTM Fat Joe, Lohan BFF Ne-Yo, Quincy Jones, LA Reid, Grandmaster Flash, Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian.

What I told my friends after I left: What?! You dont follow hip hop gossip? Well Ashanti and Nelly were for years the Justin-Britney of hip, but they went as bad as that analogy last year. We saw that they are not only NOT DATING anymore- they appear to be playing the 9th grade version of "NOT DATING ANYMORE". They arrived separately, were at different tables, and didn’t interact together at all. Am I the last to learn the "open secret" in the music industry that they have a kid together? (Did it ever happen??)

A CHIMP.net running mate swears he saw David Beckham hiding under a hood and coming in the back door solo (Posh is in London). We were too "busy" to investigate.

Nicole Khristine Launch Party - Jesse Metcalfe Desperate for a Fight

Wow! RappAround PR had the pleasure of working with Eddie DeBartolo's famed daughter Nikki and her partner Khristine Williams on the launch of their NK jewelry line last night at Social Hollywood.

As you probably know by now, Jesse Metcalfe got in a 2 part fight with Taryn Manning's male friend "Mams". Luckily, Jonny on the spot photographer Todd Williamson (yeah, that guy who once confronted Perez Hilton on the red carpet) got a confrontation of his own when Jesse and Mams began fighting at his feet...ON THE RED CARPET.

US Weekly is after the photos now. Metcalfe attacked Mams from behind, sending friend Jenna Dewan into the arms of her boyfriend Channing Tatum. Metcalfe and Mams were kicked out of the venue, while Channing and Jenna decided to stay to pick up over $14,000 worth of jewelry from Nicole Khristine, including an angel wing diamond necklace for her and a diamond shield necklace for him.

Macy Gray (Taft Prep School '93, Grammy Winner '00) was supposed to join the turntable duet but bolted early to hit up another event in town. AM and Flash did a first ever turntable collaboration, bringing the crowd to a high with their 4 turntable rendition of Naughty By Nature's Hip Hooray. (Video above)

Audrina Patridge (The Hills'current) and her sister, the tattooed Casey were by far the prom queens and most popular after the hosts themselves.

Snoop Dogg sat with Alexandra Von Furstenberg at the Nicole Khristine dinner party before the main event, where Snoop ordered chicken wings take out to bring into the restaurant at Social because he didn’t want 5 diamond chef Michel Richard's lobster and short ribs they were serving at the dinner.

Dave Annable and Emily Van Camp "canoodled" as he helped pick out a piece of jewelry from Nicole Khristine. She chose the UNITY IN DIVERSITY West African symbol pendant.

Guitarist Slash and wife Perla picked up over $15,000 worth of Nicole Khristine Jewelry. Slash was set to perform in San Diego earlier in the evening This is interesting because Velvet Revolver was scheduled to perform in San Diego but had to cancel as Scott Weiland is the next victim to return to rehab… so… instead of playing, Slash came to the NK party to load up on new jewelry. About $15k worth for him and Perla. He loved the men’s necklaces and took home the “parenting and nurturing” pendant…. Maybe they’re planning more family?

Grandmaster Flash was so excited to be on the carpet with Snoop Dogg, he had his Razor 3 out and was getting Snoop's number right in front of a ton of the photographer's throng, and spoke of wanting to work on a collaboration in the future.

Cris Judd was amongst the last to arrive, though that didnt stop him from turning all heads in the room by dancing just off the stage to New Kids' Hanging Tough. (No JOKE!)

    Phew...we're tired.

Big ups to our friends from the E Crew....Michael Yo, Catt Sadler, and Jason Kennedy for making it out, the Hollyscoop and Young Hollywood gangs, and our partners Jeffrey Best and Melanie Lemnios (Best Events), Heather Cohen (Exclusive PR) and Ally Bernstein (The Best Table)

Superbowl Parties: Inside Victoria's Secret Party

Hyped all week as the scene stealing party of the three day Scottsdale weekend that would focus on "quality" instead of quantity, everyone looked forward to Victoria's Secret "What is Sexy" Party Saturday night (2 Feb) . It worked. And alot of ex boybanders turned up to catch headliner Josh Kelley (Mr. Katherine Heigl '08)

By 10 pm it was flooded with dudes who got spooked in to a ridiculously early arrival. By 1030, the fire marshall put in a door halt, barring even celebrities like Joey Fatone (Dr. Phillips High School - FL '95, TV Guide Red Carpet '08) waited in his car to avoid the visual "hold" outside like Tara Reid getting Heisman'ed at Hyde. He soon was working Nick Lachey out of the picture as Cardinal QB Matt Leinart's favorite ex boy bander. (Pictured above)

UPDATE: Holy shit! As I write this from the patio of the Style Villa at Hotel Indigo at 12:27 PM, I looked up from my laptop and Matt Leinart is 5 feet away from me sampling monster and eating fries. He says Nick Lachey is still his #1 bromance.

CAA is all Business across town...
Also at 10:30 PM Jerry Bruckheimer sauntered in to the CAA Sports division party at the Mondrian, followed by Milo Ventimiglia (Mr. Hayden Panetierre '08). Tao Honcho Noah Tepperburg (Mr. Denise Vasi '08) somehow got stuck working the ropes of this business like event (read:white 45 year old men in suits) while his partner Jason Strauss must have won a bet to score the assignment across town at the fire marshall halted VS throwdown...but we digress.

New Kids are Back in BlackOnce inside Taste Ultra Lounge, only hours after announcing a New Kids on the Block fundraiser comeback album, Donny Wahlberg (Saw II-IV 'current) and dance partner Joey McIntryre (Boston Public '03) sported matching black hat costumes of the Federline and Kid Rock variety.

(Donnie, Nikki DeBartolo, and Khristine Williams)

    New Teammates
We are happy to announce anew blogging friendship with fellow behind the rope party snitch Shira Lazar. Visit The Pop Report for similar gossip coverage to what is spewed here.

Superbowl Parties: Inside the Maxim Party with Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford.

The Maxim Magazine party kicking off Superbowl Weekend and opening Rande Gerber's new Stone Rose Lounge was one of those monstrous parties so big we surprisingly didn't know about 80% of the faces there until we read about it.

When there is a chandeliered tent the size of 3 football fields as you arrive -- and you realize that is just for the CHECK IN, you know it is "not played out", a point Noah Tepperberg's girlfriend Denise Vasi made to me at the Monster Energy Drink Style Villa earlier in the day.Plaza after plaza after plaza....led to inside bars and ballrooms....which spilled out on to a 3 acre pool with stages built on to it....which led to other places that we have no idea.

We camped out inside the Stone Rose Lounge at the table next to host Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford who spent the early part of the night in a 3 some chat with David Spade talking quietly. We did get to wish Rande congrats on the new bar and escort Spencer and Heidi to the secret private bathroom----she is much prettier in person. He is exactly the same in every way.We also caught up with the much discussed Nicole Khristine crew and spent alot of the night with designers Nikki DeBartolo (pictured above) and Khristine Williams, catching up with their buddy since childhood Mario Lopez. Note: Mario used to have a mega crush on Nikki. Maybe still.

Superbowl: Nick and Vanessa, Diddy, Matt Leinart Cram their Entourages in to a Dorm Room

The superbowl atmosphere feels like 95% dudes in dockers looking for a"Maxim/Playboy" party. To get away from the tailgate crowd, you have to pass through 4 levels of security. We luckily ended up bypassing a $175 Bud Bowl street party entrance fee, and a $1000 VIP upgrade and a final hurdle through 500 people crushing this little room to get to the inner sanctum of superbowl celebrity. (pictured below)In this tiny room, Joey Fatone (Singing Bee '07, TV Guide Red Carpet 'current) was holding court with everybody's favorite mangager Joe Mulvahill (Orlando 'current). Joey said "annnh....its the same old shit."
Nick Lachey (Miami U of Ohio '95) still gets yelled at alot. Girlfriend Vanessa Minillo had her own bottle of Vueve Cliquot yellow label champagne on the balcony, but was yelling for Nick to get more people in to the room. At the same time best friend Matt Leinart was yelling a lot for Nick also to get his unrecognizable Arizona Cardinal teammates in to the VIP. He did. He barely had time to chug his blue opaque Bud Light bottles. This troika got almost as attention as...
Diddy/Sean Combs (Roman Catholic Mount Saint Michael Academy '87). He performed 3 songs on the outdoor stage. As promised, he rolls deep, but Puffy is 2nd in line when working their way through a crowd. The lead man announces to the doorman who is here, Puffy peeks his head around, and then 30 people make a conga line and take over the one table in VIP.Eli Manning's fiance Abby McGrew (Kappa Delta Ole Miss '04) was also in the VIP sky box, but nobody really cared or bothered her...except us...kind of. (see left) The hot product at this year's superbowl is Nicole Khristine Jewelry which seems to suddenly be on every celebrity we see.

    Superbowl: Live on Scene

Between now and Sunday afternoon, check in for updates from Scottsdale, AZ as the fake jetset migrates here for the weekend...as the game is 30 minutes away in the unglossy Glendale. We're writing from the Mondrian and Style Villa at Indigo Hotel throughout the weekend..

Our first sighting came before even leaving the airport. A car service baited us with a sign that read "Kardashian"....causing onlookers to linger unnaturally long at Noah's Bagel before leaving the airport...until they found out it was little sitster Kourtney Kardashian (Kim's little sister 'always).

    A&E Reality Crashes Vh1 Reality

Is there such a thing as a celeb too meek to register on VH1's radar? Apparently not.

Dave Weintraub (Montclair Prep '98) starred in the insta-cancelled 2007 A&E reality show "Sons of Hollywood" with pals Sean Stewart (Rod's son '80) and Randy Spelling (Tori's Brother '78). While taking a well deserved break from the famous Metal Skool on Monday night (1.28) he chose to star in VH1's "Watch and Discuss" mobile video confessional booth on Sunset Blvd.

Ask Universal Consulting Group, creators of the hit marketing prop, if you're curious as to whats on that video with that girl in that stabbin cabin.

New American Gladiators on NBC, Confirmed Badasses

While kicking my ass has never been the litmus test for badassed-ness, the all new gladiators pass the test nonetheless.

Meet WOLF (Professional Bull Wrestler '88-current). This is the guy who wrestles the bull in a rodeo after it throws off a rider and stomps the clown. Here he swats a monkey on "The Pyramid" during NBC's recent media day on Stage 30 at Sony Picture Studios..

Congrats to Exec Producer David Hurwitz (The Man Show '99, Fear Factor '01-06) on the new series. Watch American Gladiators on NBC beginning Sunday night, January 6.

High fives to Melissa Armstrong for taking good care of us.

MassHole: Survivor's School Lunch Lady Lied?

The dust from the Survivor China finale hasn't yet settled. Denise Martin (Douglas, MA school lunch lady '07) copped to distorting the story about being demoted from cafeteria to diarrhea, on her return from shooting the show.

Meanwhile, the intricate set from the live reunion show has settled. TheCHIMP.net exclusively obtained this photo of the pagoda roof rotting in an uncharacteristic LA rain shower on the CBS lot this afternoon (Tues 12.18).

Live on Scene: Survivor China Finale

As commissioner of the Survivor China pool, we attended the live finale at CBS to see lil' twerp Todd Herzog (Pleasant Grove H.S. - UT '03) win $1 million dollars last night (Sun. 12.17).
It was a more muted affair than the emotional Cook Island's finale a year ago, except for a generous decision of exec producer/creator Mark Burnett (Eco-Challenge '94, Survivor '00, Apprentice '04). Midway through the live reunion, he gifted $50,000 to the school lunch lady contestant who lost her job for appearing on the show. She is now cleaning the bathrooms as a janitor. (ouch)

Of note, a contestant from Burnett's own Survivor rip off , Pirate Master, committed suicide in July after competing on the quickly cancelled show. Kudos for stepping in.

Live on Scene: TheCHIMP.net Escorting Paris to Jail

Since we live in the same neighborhood as Paris Hilton, and as a graduate of the LA Sheriff's Dept. Citizen Police Academy, I wanted to make sure that all procedures were followed appropriately in returning Paris to custody this morning

Also the two most important issues facing our country were married together on one sign "Obama Hilton '08"Kathy Hilton ('Failed Reality Star '05) exited the house first with husband Rick. She said "We just found out about this that we had to go...we are very distraught". She got in to the same black Escalade that Paris got dropped off to jail in on Sunday night (3 June). The Black and White Beyonce Sign is the back of "Obama/Hilton '08". The LAPD had to be called in to control the media even though this is not their jurisdiction.
As Paris was driven away, she gave an "over the shoulder" shot out the back tinted green glass of the squad car to the photogs. This is no bullshit.

The crowd crushed the cruiser...and this douchebag reporter from NBC 4 got run over on his foot... his microphone ripped off the cord. He is holding a "replacement" microphone.
