Jenn Brown Now "Inside the NFL" - Confusion over Initials Ensues

Nepotism in Hollywood? We're not sure it factored in FoTC.n Jenn Brown (Univ of Florida) infiltrating the boys' club on the couch of "Inside the NFL".
The show is anchored by distant cousin James Brown (far right).

Before getting called up to the Emmy award winning sports show in a rookie class including dancer Warren Sapp (Apopka H.S. - FL '91, UMiami '95, pictured left),  Jenn told TheCHIMP.net that her favorite sports achievement was "(going) 10 for 10 at stolen bases at 3rd base my senior year at the University of Florida. Anyone who knows baseball/ softball well know how hard it is to steal 3rd base...it was my specialty!!"
Prepare your fantasy lineup only after watching the cuter of the two "JB's", Wednesdays at 9 PM. Congrats.

June Rocked - New Record

It's a new record.Thank you for being one of the 48, 933 unique visitors to TheCHIMP.net in June. That's like selling out Madison Square Garden (Knicks/Rangers 'current) and The Staples Center (Lakers/Clippers/Kings 'current) at the same time, with a line of 5,000 people outside each.

453% growth since May - economists state the results are directly proportional to gas prices - you're staying home bored on the internet.
The most popular stories revolved around celebrities acting like teenagers -- working second jobs or writing graffiti.

Big high fives to the those who stumbled in via the twitter feed (CBS' The Insider & E! - both new followers) and those co-bloggers who linked to the site.

No gold medals or national anthems, but when we hit 100,000 visitors in a month (The Rose Bowl) we're buying ourselves a Wheaties box.

Creams

TheCHIMP.net recently visited the Wipeout Set, 45 minutes north of LA in Canyon Country.

Wipeout, aka "Fear Factor without the gross" aka "just the good parts of America's Home Videos" premiered to huge numbers last night (Tuesday, 24 June).
This morning, the Exec Producer is saying:
We creamed the 8pm competion. We built strongly from 1/2 hour to 1/2 hour. We were the highested rated demo of the night. We ended the night with 10.7 million people tuned in. For summer time this is HUGE.
In a segment for the Jimmy Kimmel Live, Superman and other superheroes ran the course.

Congrats to friends, colleagues, and creators Matt Kunitz (Torrey Pines H.S. '86, USC '90) and Scott Larsen (Torrey Pines H.S. '86)

Hallelujah! Billy Graham Biopic Features Familiar Faces

Congrats (and good luck) to our friend Armie Hammer (Rumored to be Batman '09) who is competing with Miley Cyrus for dominance of the blossoming Tennessee film production scene right now. While shooting the Billy Graham biopic, "Billy: The Early Years" in Lebanon, Tennessee on Sunday (20 Apr), Armie welcomed his dude-bro to the spotlight: The official LA Best New Artist of the year, Tyler Ramsey (SMU '96).

For the avoidance of doubt, those Miley Cyrus extras you see around town are subject to child labor laws.

NBC Sets up Shira Lazar and Mo Rocca on Saturday Night Date

Was that *pop* you just heard Cris Abrego (Co Worker'98, Creator of all VH1 celeb Reality' '03-current) puckering up to a $200,000,000 bottle of Moet to manifest his recent "liquidity event"?

Nope, it's a friend getting further in to TV...not selling out.

Congrats to Shira. Our fellow behind the rope party snitch and blogging buddy Shira Lazar (Fox News' Red Eye 'current) told us "I am now part of the NBC family". NBC annointed her the host for 2 (yes, two) new NBC TV shows. Both fly under the LX.tv banner.

She shares the mic with funny man Mo Rocca (The Daily Show '05). One show focuses on house hunting, and the second on all the cool hotspots you can no longer afford because you did so well house hunting. Check them out as they premiere this Saturday (5 Apr).

Congrats! Metal Skools Taps Gary Sharp as New Opening Act

The Queen tapped Prince Charles. Dr. Dre tapped Eminem, who tapped 50 Cent, who taps a lot of ass. TheCHIMP.net is exicted to announce that rock-mock cover band Metal Skool (Hole Patrol album'03, Kings of the Sunset Strip 'current) have tapped friend Gary Sharp (Syracuse '97) and his band Candygram for Mongo as their new audience fluffers.

L to R: Tony Shea -The Voice, Johnny D - The Guitar, Gary Sharp - The Drums, James Baker - The Bass, and Dan Cohen - The Guitar

Their debut opening performance might be the "tea time" opening slot of 9PM sharp on the regular most popular Monday night in LA, but that wont stop them from rocking a sound "that sounds like you're sitting in the Spearmint Rhino strip club" Gary says.TheCHIMP.net caught up with the latest celebrity to make a cameo at MetalSkool, Lil Jon. Yeahhh!

As if that's not enough, Candygram for Mongo also makes their network TV debut this week!

"We are getting our 1.6 seconds of fame in the opening scene of the Farrelly Bros sitcom, UNHITCHED on Sunday March 30th (Fox, check local listings). We play the house band in some knucklehead punk rock club."

Mazel Tov, Gary. Listen in over at their MySpace or their information superhighway homepage.

Wimbledon Is Not Enough. Venus Williams Graduates Cum Laude

(Left to Right: The Graduate, Mother, Sister Iisha, Sister Serena, photo by Criminal Mike)
Congrats to our friend and "fest" regular Venus Williams (Art Institute '07)! From the Ft. Lauderdale Art Institute's Class of 2007,
  • only one student won "Best Sportswear Line",
  • only one graduate whose school project got picked up by Steve and Barry's,
  • and only one graduate has hoisted the Wimbledon, US Open, and 14 other grand slam trophies.
She also celebrated uniquely with a South Beach graduation party hosted by luminaries Michael Capponi (Opium Gruop, Set, Mokai'i) Antonio Misuraca (The Forge, The Mark), and Criminal Mike (#1 Gifter of Custom Kicks - above) at the Hotel Victor last night (Thurs 12.13).

NBC News Strengthened by Yeransian

Congrats to Leslie Yeransian (Deerfield ’96, Smith ’01, Northwestern Masters ‘05), the new on air reporter and personality for “News Team 10”, in Providence.

She’ll “have her eye on consumer stories/investigations”, she told TheCHIMP.net exclusively. Their website is reporting that local mechanics and moving truck companies are already cowering.
This is the same station where NBC’s real life Jim and Pam, Meredith Viera & Matt Laurer came from, as well as the dour, spartan, and hard faced Christiane Amanpour of CNN. Even though Leslie just ushered out her 20’s at a 1920’s themed flapper birthday bash (Sat 12.8), we don’t think she is hard faced at all.

Noteables in 20s costumes included: Jen Flood (Deerfield '97) and Annie Lynch (Deerfield '96)

David Walton Continues Prep School Hotstreak

Get lost, Playboy, MTV, William Morris' mailroom, and other traditional incubators of "the next big thing". New England prep schools' Hollywood hotstreak continues.
Smokeless tobacco and tribal chants are in order for David Walton (St. Paul's 97, Brown '01). NBC took the groundbreaking step of promoting the Walton starring web show Quarterlife from "http:" to "httPRIMETIME", in an announcement yesterday (Mon. 11.19). The "angtsy, 20-something" TV series will debut on that other screen in your living room in spring 2008.
How does TV's David Walton celebrate? "The web's David Walton celebrated with a text book blackout," said Dave in a TheCHIMP.net exclusive today. Congrats.

Above: Walton celebrates a friend's 2007 marriage by kissing the bride.

US Swedish Relations Cemented in Historic Ricci/Svennson Accords

Following the historic international impact of Max Ricci (Moses Brown '94, BC '98) and Sara Svennson's (Malmo H.S. (Sweden) '98) uniting of two cultures, there are rumors circulating that US Ambassador Wood is on his way out. At least the Nobel Prize is a lock for next year, as they celebrated at the Grand Hotel, site of the Nobel Prize winners' banquet each year. Their banquet trumped it.

Pomeranian Prince Dillon 2004-2007

We are very sad to report the passing of Los Angeles' most popular jewish dog, Dillon (Co-Star of TV show "The Delivery" '07). After a sudden and serious kidney illness, Dillon passed away Friday morning (1 June). He is survived by his mother, Melissa Rappaport, currently sitting shiva.
For anyone you know considering a new pet, please do not ever consider a trip to Petco or a breeder. As a tactless campaigner woman lurking in the doggie ICU waiting room told us, "90,000 animals are destroyed every year in LA county alone" because they cant be rescued.

The American Kennel Club is a great resource: All breeds can be rescued in almost every state in the U.S. Visit here for a comprehensive list.

Everyone loved Dillon, who converted this former animal averter, and he will be missed.

LT Outplays A Billion Dollars of TV Experience

Congratulations to LT Thompson (Hickory, North Carolinian 'current, Financial Advisor 'current) who outwitted, outplayed, and outlasted 8 television industry professionals from LA to win the Spring 2007, Survivor Fiji Pool. (Sister Blog "Who is Out" covered the intense pool drama all season long)

LT beat out 5 professional reality casting directors, an executive producer, 2 couples, a pair of artsy brothers, and 3 USC film school diplomas (over a billion dollars in TV output) in bullseye'ing Earl Cole (Millionairre '07), with the 1st overall pick of the draft and riding him for 14 weeks to victory.

We would add a picture of LT here, but we cant see through the wall-to-wall babies over at LTandLela.com. We must sub him out with a preppily monikered newborn ("Winslow") pulled at random from the spring crop that is sprouting over at our #1 referrer website.

Be advised that this hereby expends the once-a-year exemption to the TheCHIMP.net's strident "no baby news" policy. Interested in playing the fall edition of the Survivor China pool? Throw your torch in the ring here.

Whitmans Can't Win Every Close One

The CHIMP.net sadly reports that Kate Whitman (Deerfield '95, Wesleyan '99) narrowly lost an election for Freeholder for Sommerset County, New Jersey on Thursday, March 29. Kate, a three year girl at DA, and her brother Taylor (Deerfield '97) come from strong NJ genes - as children of national moderate republican icon Christine Whitman (Wheaton '68, Gov of New Jersey '94-'01, EPA Administrator '01 - '03).

We're blaming it all on her campaign manager - despite him being a former Governor of New Jersey. The early election serves as the Republicans' tidy "primary before the primary", to prevent internecine squabbling and bleeding to ensure only one candidate enters the general election. We now await the next Deerfield Candidacy, Sherlock Grigsby (Deerfield '94, MTV Spring Break Hard Body award '95, Yale '98, Enterprise, MS 'current).

Gwen, Fergie, Beyonce, and Rappa - Superstar Soloists

Pop the Kristal! (The Departed: Andrea O. Left and Melissa R. right)
On Sunday, January 21, Rappa hosted a Justin Timberlake dinner at The Green House at Sundance. A few days later, she announced her Justin...making bigger hits going solo.

(Friday, January 26 - Hollywood, CA)

After three great years of founding and building Spin Shoppe Public Relations with partners, I have chosen to leave the company. Please change your address book to reflect the following business contact info:

Melissa Rappaport
New Email-
rappaport.melissa@gmail.com

From now on, please use rappaport.melissa@gmail.com. Other people will be checking this account beginning this afternoon.

The story was snapped up by the press and without delay, the Four Seasons, Oscar week, and new events are underway: Vivica Fox (50 Cent '03) will introduce friend and glamour guru Jayneoni Moore (Baby Boom Boom Room founder 'current) to the Hollywood fashion press community only with Rappa's help.

In related "good night and good luck" news, there is now only a former employee of the month as Andrea Oreckinto, has hung her last seat sign as well. The universal smiles are 100% natural.

BREAKING: Going Pro, Signed by Imeem.com

(Jan 12, 2007, Hollywood, CA) TheCHIMP.net has been selected in the first round by Imeem.com to be a celebrity blogger at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. Fuck college, I'm going pro.

Getting called up to the bigs for the Sundance 2007 team lets me play alongside the Hollyscoop girls, E! Channel''s Hollywood Party Girl, and even Pedro, as in Efren Ramirez (Vote for Pedro/Napoleon Dynamite '04), all of whom are also covering for Imeem. Perez Hilton is an alumni of the '06 team.

Check out cross postings from January 19-23 covering the Hollywood version of Spring Break from Park City, Utah both here and at my Imeem site.

Sundance: Hollywood transplants to Utah for 10 days for partying, celebrity snowboarding, photo opps, and sidewalk fashion shows of LA dickweeds walking around in newly purchased "winter stuff". There's also movies or something also. Stay tuned.
