Live On Scene: Rock the Cure All Stars Play for Scott Patterson

Very honored to be included in a special concert for Scott Patterson at the Viper Room on Sunset tonight (Thurs July 17). As the MC said, "Rock the Cure puts its money where its mouth is", and they proved it tonight with a midsummer's all star game of Rock Stars playing cover songs on the Sunset Strip. Drinks and $50 tickets all supported Scott, Camp Freddy tour manager since the beginning.

In addition to the usual guest stars with the band, Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders '80s), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray '90s), Dave Kushner (Velvet Revolver '08), Steven Pearcy (Jane's Addiction '90s), Matt Sorum (Guns N Roses '90s), and Teri Nunn (Top Gun's"You Take My Breath Away'85) rocked the celeb heavy crowd.

P.S. The night was not without some XRated controversy. Camp Freddy knew Chrissie Hynde was in the audience and she was reluctant to come on stage. They goaded her on stage, and she dissed the band members because they didn’t know how to play the song she wanted them to play with her(Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling IN love with you), She said “these guys are not real musicians”. Dave Navarro escalated the sexual tension by saying “Hey Chrissie, I have something you know…” and then he started playing “Brass in Pocket” After “Brass in Pocket”, the band did indeed play “Cant Help” , and Chrissie and Dave started making out during the song. (See above video) After the song, Dave said in to the mic “He Chrissie, how about another kiss” (something like this) and Chrissie answered “I’m better at sucking c**k”). Chrissie kind of pretended to go down on Dave, kneeling in front of him, unbuttoning his pants and sticking her hand inside. Her head was right on his body

Doug Benson: "Professional Humoredian"

Not trying to be funny with that title, but Doug Benson is. That's what the VH1 "Best Week Ever" star named his new comedy CD that came out yesterday (Tues 15 July).
Doug, (High Times' Stoner of the Year '06, Last Comic Standing '07) celebrated by autographing the album, a cool DJ playing popular music, and lots of vodka drinking at Vice Hollywood last night. (picture above)
He is a friend for lots of reasons, and moreso after watching his new autobio-documentary-challenge "Super High Me". He did exactly what Morgan Spurlock did in "Super Size Me", but with weed instead of McDonalds.......and probably some McDonalds also. Check out the funny.

Live on Scene: Camp Freddy Rock "Ratt" at the Roxy

Camp Freddy is the ad-hoc All-Star game of established, well-known musicians who play rock and roll covers of each other's songs, usually just at private red carpet events in Hollywood. Until now.

On opening night of their new residency at the Roxy in West Hollywood, CA (Thurs 1 May), they rocked "Round and Round" with the RATT guitarist himself.

The world famous Coachella Festival (White Stripes '03, Prince '08) introduced tons of breakout new bands and DJ's (good), and the 2 annoying fashion fads poised to dominate that other big event coming soon: summer.
Skinny headbands and gladiator sandals are the new trucker hats...even for some model dude-bros.

The sample of 125,000 hipster Los Angeles partygoers test driving their summer wardrobe can't be wrong. In 2012, photos will be laughed at.

Congrats! Metal Skools Taps Gary Sharp as New Opening Act

The Queen tapped Prince Charles. Dr. Dre tapped Eminem, who tapped 50 Cent, who taps a lot of ass. TheCHIMP.net is exicted to announce that rock-mock cover band Metal Skool (Hole Patrol album'03, Kings of the Sunset Strip 'current) have tapped friend Gary Sharp (Syracuse '97) and his band Candygram for Mongo as their new audience fluffers.

Their debut opening performance might be the "tea time" opening slot of 9PM sharp on the regular most popular Monday night in LA, but that wont stop them from rocking a sound "that sounds like you're sitting in the Spearmint Rhino strip club" Gary says.TheCHIMP.net caught up with the latest celebrity to make a cameo at MetalSkool, Lil Jon. Yeahhh!

As if that's not enough, Candygram for Mongo also makes their network TV debut this week!

"We are getting our 1.6 seconds of fame in the opening scene of the Farrelly Bros sitcom, UNHITCHED on Sunday March 30th (Fox, check local listings). We play the house band in some knucklehead punk rock club."

TV Guide Host Sells Out

Congrats to our friend Nikki Boyer (TLC's Perfect Proposal '03, TV Guide Red Carpet Host 'current) and her band The Spirit Theory. Were it not for a lucky wave from the doorman, this photo of their concert at Hollywood's M Bar Friday night (14 Mar) wouldn't exist. The show sold out early!

The front-woman closed with "Let's Get it On", by Marvin Gaye. No sighting of husband David Denman (Roy on the Office 'current)Yes, this photo is small, blurry, and stolen from the internets.

Sundance: Revolving Cast of Singers for Velvet Revolver

A Revolving cast of vocalists stepped in for Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots '93) in a once in a lifetime special Velvet Revolver jam session at Harry O's on Sunday night January 20, 2008.

Cisco Adler (Mischa '05), Will Turpin (Collective Soul '93), and even drummer Matt Sorum were among the Sundancers that took their turn on the mic.

First up, Rocker Pink (Central Bucks West H.S. - PA '97, Grammy Winner '02, '04). We caught up with her and husband Carey Hart (Motocross Guy 'current) backstage at the Velvet Revolver concert at LA's Gibson Ampitheatre last night (Wed 12.12)

Pink: "It's not that exciting of an answer actually. ....I already got what I want... ...(Points at Carey)"

MTV Utah - Unplugged

Tyler Hilton, starred on "One Tree Hill"for 2 years, played Elvis Presly in "Walk theLine",and no, he is not her brother.

On Tuesday, in the Green House finale channeled classic MTV Unplugged, with a fireside acoustic performance for 40 select invited guests. TRL favorite and teen pin-up rocked out a 6 song set. Not my best videography, but you get the idea here.

Professional swagger Wynona Ryder showed up as one of the few with Bobby Cannavale, the guy from Will and Grace and "Six Feet Under", thinking that she was coming to see dipshit perform and not really sure why. Wynona looked as relieved as the "not guilty" when she heard.
Encore! Encore cheered the crowd. Get "one more song" over at the Imeem Concert.

Understudying Slash, Scott Weiland, and Dave Kushner

Sundance is supposed to be about break-through films, right? On Friday night, a band walked in uninvited off Sunnyside Dr. and might walk out with a music career.

The night started off with gifting. Teri Hatcher came with boyfriend, and snagged not only free stuff, but the 1 marquee cover photo selected from about 50 sundance events on Wireimage. SNL alum Molly Shannon went shwagging also. Due to a family emergency, members of Velvet Revolver could not play the living room as planned. A group of guys came to the house and told the house producers...."we heard theres been a change, we would love to play your house tonight." LA Based Dare Devil Jane found some drums and took over the great room for 90 minutes....cut to girls dancing on tables, people giving each other motley bird energy drink showers and a godzilla size domino's order...a classic ski weekend house party. On the way out, Velvet Revolver Bassist Dave Kushner requested their CD to share with label brass ...stay tuned.
