Now What Happens to the VJ's? TRL Cancelled
With videos long banished, the real story behind the cancellation of the once mighty TRL (MTV '98-08) is the collateral damage: The elimination of VJ's.
An MTV talent insider gave credence to our theory, telling TheCHIMP.net " What does it mean for VJ's-to-be now that the mothership of VJdom has taken off?" Let's hypothesize for a second: nothing good.
Ex MTV VJ Susie Castillo (Methuen H.S. - MA '97, Miss USA '03, pictured above) told TheCHIMP.net exclusively " MTV still needs hosts for specials like the Real World reunions, The Challenge reunions, New Years Eve, etc.".
Ouch. 3 hours of screen time a year isnt going to land the next generation of talking heads a book deal!
While the intensity of pent-up nostalgia for 90s MTV surprises, the post-channel accomplishments of its alumni VJ's traditionally go un-noted. " Castillo adds, "It will be sad to hear Damien (Fahey), (Longmeadow H.S. '95, Northeastern '03) say "thanks for watching, thanks for caring" for the last time. RIP TRL."
